Hulk Hogan Snubbed By The Rolling Stones, Metallica
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 11.03.2009
“I would have quit wrestling in a heartbeat to be a bass player for Metallica.”
According to Hulk Hogan, despite his success in the world of wrestling, his dreams were always to be a rock star.
He told Rolling Stone, "I was in England presenting an award with Jerry Hall, Mick Jagger's ex, and she told me the Stones were looking for a bass player. I sent her a ton of merchandise that she asked for and said, ‘Tell Mick I'm a great bass player.' I never heard a word back."
"When Metallica was looking for a bass player, I called and never heard a word back from them either," Hogan revealed. "I would have quit wrestling in a heartbeat to be a bass player for Metallica."
Gives new meaning to the term "For Whom The Bell Tolls"....

They must not have seen his awesome Real American video. I bet when they see it now they are filled with regret about what could have been and cry themselves to sleep.

Although that's somewhat interesting, why not be happy with what you did have, Hulk? Like being the most popular Professional Wrestler of all-time? I think Hulk needs the Saw treatment. Jigsaw would whip you into mental shape, brother!

This is ridiculous. If Hulk Hogan seriously thinks that Metallica or the Stones would even consider hiring him as a bassist, he's even more delusional than I thought. Sorry, Brother, but bodyslamming Andre doesn't give you musical street cred. This would be like me crying about Eddie Vedder not inviting me up onstage to sing at the concert last week, even though I totally know all the words to Yellow Ledbetter.

I guess we have to keep waiting on the signature Fender Two-Tone Boa Bass Guitar...

It would have been worth it just to see James and Lars treat Hogan like shit--just like they did with Jason when he initially joined.

Metallica snubbed Les Claypool too. You think you're on par with Les Claypool? You're an insane person.

Oh that would be PERFECT! Two things that were very cool in the Eighties and have sucked ever since!

How is he whining?
"I sent tapes to two bands" is not whining. Go internet! I can keep my house warm for years on strawman fuel alone.

can we get video of James Hetfield doing a spit-take to that comment?

Could you imagine him in the Stones... that would be hilarious.

Even though wrestling and metal had a lot to do with each other in the 80's (Billy Milano of SOD/MOD fame did some indy gigs here and again, and an odd number of bands wore Piper merch), and even more in the 90's (practically all of Rob Zombie's back catalogue has been tied to ECW and the WWF/E in some way, shape, or form; not to mention Foley's story about seeing somebody from a metal band wearing his WANTED DEAD shirt while taking a piss onstage, and all of the musicians showing up in ECW and XPW), he wouldn't have cut the mustard AT ALL in Metallica. I'm not saying he can't play, I'm just saying that I doubt he was anywhere near Burton or Newstead's level.
Alex Webster FTW.

They didn't want you.
You are wrestling and they don't want a wrestling jabroni.
Hulk, you are not metal enough to be with Metallica.
Probably you suck as a bass player anyway.

Cliff Burton would pinned Hogan in a match.

I would hardly call that a "snub". And how many other legit musicians do you think didn't get a call back either?
