Billboard Charts: Susan Boyle Has Biggest Sales Week Of 2009, Grabs #1
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 12.02.2009

Susan Boyle's debut album I Dreamed a Dream debuts at #1 this week on the Billboard 200 after moving 701,000 copies in its first week. That gives Boyle the biggest week of 2009, nearly 100,000 better than what Eminem moved with Relapse. It's the biggest sales week since October of 2008, when AC/DC sold 784,000 copies of Black Ice in its first week.

The sales also make I Dreamed A Dream the best selling week for a female debut album in the SoundScan era. In fact, the only debut album to see a better week was Snopp Dogg's Doggystyle back in 1993.

Elsewhere, Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainement bows at #3 with 198,000 copies sold in its first week - over double what "American Idol" Kris Allen's debut did last week.

Rihanna's Rated R debuts at #4 with 181,000, marking her best sales week ever. Lady GaGa's The Fame Monster comes in at #5 with 174,000 and also helped propel her debut The Fame back into the Top 10.

Billboard 200 Top 10

1. Susan Boyle - I Dreamed A Dream, 701,000
2. Andrea Bocelli - My Christmas, 218,000
3. Adam Lambert - For Your Entertainment, 198,000
4. Rihanna - Rated R, 181,000
5. Lady GaGa - The Fame Monster, 174,000
6. Lady GaGa - The Fame, 151,000
7. Miley Cyrus - The Time Of Our Lives, 150,000
8. Taylor Swift - Fearless, 125,000
9. Carrie Underwood - Play On, 124,000
10. Norah Jones - The Fall, 110,000

After all of the hype surrounding Adam Lambert? After everyone predicted he will be the next big thing in music...he finishes THIRD to Susan Boyle and a Christmas album from Andrea Bocelli?

HA!

Just the proof we all needed to confirm that the end of the world is indeed near.
