What went down in the courtroom?
Things in the courthouse have wrapped up for the day, and the upshot of it all is that Dr. Conrad Murray has entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter. Bail was set at $75,000, which is 3 times what is normal in this sort of case but a quarter of what the D.A. asked for. In explaining the request for the abnormally high bail, the D.A. said that Murray was born outside the country, which was countered by the defense who said that he is a US citizen.
The medical board has filed a motion to revoke Murray's medical license, and the judge told Murray that he could not be in possession of or issue prescriptions for anesthetics, but could issue other prescriptions. Said the judge: "I do not want you sedating people."
Joe, Katherine, Jackie, Rebbie, Jermaine, and La Toya Jackson were spotted in the courtroom. Dr. Murray left, without handcuffs, accompanied by his lawyer and a bail bondsman.
