Legendary Abbey Road Studios Up For Sale
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 02.16.2010

London recording studio Abbey Road, best known for being where The Beatles recorded their greatest albums, has been put on the market by its owner, music label EMI.

The sale is likely to raise tens of millions for EMI, which has been struggling as of late.

Of course, Abbey Road is not just a place, it's also a brand, and its unknown if EMI will be selling off just the property, or the name too.

EMI bought bought Abbey Road (address 3 Abbey Rd, London) in 1929 and converted it into recording studios. Aside from the Beatles, Pink Floyd also recorded Dark Side Of The Moon there. These days its mostly used for orchestras, thanks to its price and size.

I hope this doesn't mean the end of 'run a japanese tourist over' day... who stand by the 'beatles' zebra crossing determined to get as many photos as possible with no regard to oncoming traffic!

The National Lottery could buy it on behalf of the National Trust then in a way we would all own a part of this iconic building
