Carly Simon Says Geffen Guess is Wrong

We still don't know who's so vain...
Carly Simon had a good old chuckle, then put the world straight. After some people surmised that Carly's iconic song "You're So Vain" was about producer David Geffen, based on a hint dropped by the singer, she had this to say:
"What a riot! Nothing to do with David Geffen! What a funny mistake! Someone got a clue mistaken for another mistake!"

Why in the blue blazes are people still talking about this stupid song? Didn't think anyone gave a flying rat's butt then and especially now...and to all the people that are gonna get on me about this, I am old enough to remember the song on the radio when it was released.

My guess? The song wasn't about anybody. It was just a fucking song, and everyone got so twisted over it, that she ran with the whole mystique factor as a sales technique.
