Green Day Working On New Album
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 03.18.2010
Billie Joe Armstrong confirms...
According to frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day has started work on its new album. The band's last album, 21st Century Breakdown, came out in May last year.
Armstrong states that the band started working on new material last fall during some downtime on a European tour, and added that the plan was to get this album finished faster than the last one, which came out 5 years after American Idiot.
"We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam," Armstrong said. "We wanted to get [the new songs] down in some early form."

Sounds cool. Maybe they might return to punk with elements of their new sound?!

oh boy, another shitty concept album from a band at least a decade past it's prime

Just what we need. Another, "I HATE AMERICA" album.

I personally have enjoyed their last two albums very, very much and I think they sound like a legit, mature band now. I'm not saying they weren't good before, but the last two albums are the only full albums of theirs I have (I have their Greatest Hits and a few random songs here and there).
Also, anyone who wants them to keep making the same type of punk music should consider the ages of these guys.

Punk is not about age. Green Day are simply no good.

Maybe this next album can have some heart and soul, and not be a bad imitation of The Who. I like Green Day, but seriously ... do your own schtick, Billie Joe. You're not Pete Townsend, and you never will be.

So they hate america, why because they didn't like Dubya? No did for the most part. I for one didn't care for him but I love our country. Freedom of speech people.

Great band, great songwriters. But PLEASE stop trying to be profound/operatic/overly political. Or be as political as you want and just cut out the slow songs..

I don't mind the progressive lyrics, or even so much the concept albums. I just wish the music didn't sound so fucking overpolished. Give me an album that sounds like Nimrod or even Warning and I'll be happy.

green day has never been punk and i cant stand hearing people dispute whether they're a good punk band or a bad punk band. they're pop-rock. they're cheap trick 2. and that's not really a bad thing.

I saw them live. 3 guys pretending to play, while two people stood back behind the stage actually playing. "I thought green day was a 3 piece" one fan said...."yeah three posers and 2 studio musicians playing for them"
Yeah...the are great live, just like being kicked in the balls feels great.

I was never a huge fan of their earlier pop punk work ( it wasn't bad, but for pop punk I'd take The Descedents, or Lagwagon every time ) and much to my own surprise, I actually really enjoyed their last two CDs. I don't know how many people will admit to remembering this, but most people were clamoring how good American Idiot was when it came out before it got overplayed, at which point it became cool to hate it because of how popular it got. Its less "punky" but its still good music, and I'm excited for new material personally.

I care about hearing live music that sounds good, but if you differ in that sense. Everyone has opinions!
