Glee Cast Says They Haven't Seen Any Money For The Last Album
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 08.30.2010

Cast members of Glee are claiming they haven't seen a dime for the show's most recent (and best selling) soundtrack - Glee: The Music - Journey To Regionals.

Both Mark Salling and Corey Montieth are complaining. Corey said, "I got 400 bucks from it going #1. But you know what, that's OK, because if I'm patient, and if this thing does really well, maybe I'll see another 400 bucks."

The NY Post is saying that Sony has a deal with Glee creator Ryan Murphy for the show's CDs, and that the cast was somehow cut out.

"The 'Glee' cast is furious because they feel they were misled by Sony," a source said. "They have all complained to Ryan that they want a bigger share of the royalties."

It looks like cast members are so angry about the residuals that they're hooking up with other labels. Matthew Morrison signed with Mercury earlier this year, and Salling is now on indie label Pipe Dream. Lea Michele is signed to Sony, but is fighting for the rights of both her and the cast when it comes to the Glee albums.

"Sony should have known better -- they kept their hands on money that could have paid to the cast," a source said. "But by upsetting the biggest talent on TV, the label is cutting its nose off to spite its face. It is myopic, short-term thinking on their part."

I hope they get the money they are owed. Theft is theft no matter what form it is. One group of people should not solely benefit off the work of others without that othe rgroup also sharing the profits.

And just like all the jerk kids in high school, once they start getting a little attention, they turn into prima donnas.

Guest#5782, how does wanting to get paid for work make you a 'prima donna"?

If you were in their shoes, being the voice of a top selling album, you wouldn't want to get paid a little?

FAME! I'm gonna live forever!

I'll agree with them signing with other labels if they agree to write their own songs....and maybe play an instrument.
