Rolling Stone Declares Eminem the King of Hip-Hop
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 08.18.2011

Eminem has been declared the King of hip-hop. Rolling Stone has made the proclamation based on several catagories and numbers from sales and Grammys to social media followers, Billboard presence, airtime play and more. Eminem placed in the top spot with Lil Wayne finishing second.

Drake, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj placed third through sixth, respectively.

Eminem is 2pac's mentally disabled white cousin.

2pac will always be the true king of hip hop

How does Rolling Stone still exist? They have been irrelevant and stale for years now and continually ignore good music.

Lame.
What about Tech N9ne?
Though I'm glad Yeezy's up there.
Though I don't understand how Lil Wayne & Drake are 2nd & 3rd. O.o

The only kings of hip hop are the ones in the institutes for the mentally handicapped. Actually, I guess that would make anyone who does hip hop the king of hip hop, because they're all mentally handicapped.

Can't tell if that was bashing Em or not but it was pretty damn funny. I do disagree, I've always favored Em over TuPac. Not up to me to crown the king of hip hop tho.

Reality check time for Kanye West and Jay-Z.

What a joke of a list

Drake? He is weak R&B rap

Lil Wayne? Awful. Only people who enjoy him are 14 year old white kids who want to be black.

Nicki Minaj? Do I even need to respond to that?

If they are talking current rappers alive then I have no problem with Eminem and Jay Z being on the list. Although I would make a case for Jadakiss.

Either way Rolling Stones should be ashamed

eminem clearly diserves the spot!!!

he is the best selling rap artist of all time!!!

im puzzled by nicki minaj & drake being their.?.

really??? i wouldt even put them on top 50... ill take underground rap instead...

while im not a wayne fan he makes sense near the top... & jayz fint in well too...

i see arguements for tech n9ne... really? hes hell of good but, he doesnt sell shit...

sales do matter in main stream music, so do awards!!! which is exactly what rap & hip hop are...

he can be more talented than everyone but hell always be underground...

anyway id take immortal technique over tech 9...

and back to drake... didnt eminem school your ass with your own beat!

drake = talentless garbage!!!

and 2 pac was king... then he died... em is and has been the new king....

and as far as mainstream rap/hiphop... it most likely dies when eminems, jay z & wayne are done...

no one else is even close...

tech 9 & immortal tech, are great but theyll never get a real label & theyll never sell...

I have no problem with Eminem being crowned king of hip hop. He is a very talented artist and one of my favorites. However, I most certainly have a problem with the others. Drake? Really? Drake is ahead of Jay-z? And Nicki Minaj is even on this list? Where is Tech N9ne? Rolling Stone considers someone who makes a song like Super Bass one of the kings of hip hop? Amd there are SOOOO much better rappers than Kanye West. Hopsin for example. Get real Rolling Stone, this list (besides Eminem) would appeal to 13 year old girls and boys who think they know hip hop and try to be black. Get real Rolling Stone, this list is a joke.

I believe the critics are correct."EMINEM" has once again proven himself to the world.A world that could possibly devour ones soul,he chewed the world up and went after what he most wanted....love and payne

Did anybody read...Rolling Stone has made the proclamation based on several catagories and numbers from sales and Grammys to social media followers, Billboard presence, airtime play and more. Translation....if nobody knows you or buys your music your not on the list.
