Eminem Claims Ambien Wiped Out Five Years of Memories
Posted by George H. Sirois on 10.17.2011

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Eminem discussed the side effects of the prescription drug Ambien and how close to death he was in 2007. Here are some highlights:

On Ambien affecting his memory: "A lot of my memory is gone. I don't know if you've ever taken Ambien, but it's kind of a memory-eraser. That shit wiped out five years of my life. People will tell me stories, and it's like, ‘I did that?' I saw myself doing this thing on [television network] BET recently, and I was like, ‘When was that?'"

Looking back on his writing from that period: "It fucking creeps me out. Letters all down the page – it was like my hand weighed 400 pounds. I have all that shit in a box in my closet. As a reminder that I don't ever want to go back."

What the doctors told him about his methadone overdose: "The doctors told me I'd done the equivalent of four bags of heroin. They said I was about two hours from dying."

Sellout asshole. Should've retired after the Eminem Show.

Sellout huh. I suppose you're right. He does sellout all of his shows. Recovery was solid.

If your memory's gone, maybe now you can stop whining about your mom and girlfriend

Come on Eminem, take responsibiltyi for your own actions. Drugs didn't rob you of you memory, your decision to abuse drugs robbed you of your memory.

Wow, looking at the comment section. People are so insenstive and cruel. smh

Greg. Recovering from addiction IS taking responsibility. I don't see him blaming the drug anywhere in there. He talks about getting clean, not about becoming an anti-ambien activist. That would be blaming the drug.

You people are stupid. The drug does have that effect as I have been there before. Other idiot that said the comment about his mom and girlfriend, you obviously dont listen to his music as he does not talk about them anymore. And Greg, the point is he is taking responsability. As the one dude said, Recovery was solid!

Ambien is the same drug Charlie Sheen mentioned taking while he was acting crazy. It has some serious side-effects and I am glad Eminem is speaking out about it.

I don't think hes really blaming the drug but only realizing what he choose to do to himself, And now see how much it will effect him forever, I mean to be famous and accomplish so much and not remember half of it is a shame which is why he say it "creeps me out" to have no recoliction.

I understand how drugs can ruin your life. My son did die of an accidental methodone overdose in 2007. Congratualtions on becoming and staying clean. Life is good, Enjoy it!

Uh, I am pretty sure he said Ambien is a memory eraser, so that's blaming the drug. If you take one at bedtime as prescribed, you shouldn't have that "eraser" problem.

Posted By: jc (Guest)  on October 18, 2011 at 01:01 PM

@jc (Guest) - He's not blaming the drug, you impotent tool. He's stating that it has memory impairment as a side-effect (which it does, even if taken exactly as prescribed). That's different, and I'm sorry you're too retarded to grasp that. And don't try to argue. I'll school your ass on pharmacology, fucko.
