Limp Bizkit Dropped From Their Record Label
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 12.04.2011
Due to poor sales...
Limp Bizkit has been dropped by their record label. Fred Durst announced on the podcast Poolside With Dean Delray that the band has parted ways with Interscope due to poor sales of the album, but that the band was happy to leave the label.
"One of the things with 'Gold Cobra' was that it was a record for us to do for ourselves, for the core fans, for some of the people that we know in the industry," said Durst. "It wasn't our step forward to make a big pop, smash radio record; we just didn't want to make that record at that time. We have been working for a while now to renavigate where we are going to take Limp Bizkit and finally we have been able to get off our label and become independent."
Durst also noted that he thought that recording albums got in their way and that they will be focusing on touring from here on out. "We just want to go play a concert and crush it and turn it into a big-ass party. The record thing sort of kind of always got in our way, but it's part of the game and we love writing music and it happened that we had some songs that became popular and we never thought that would happen. So with this way, we can still go tour...we do very, very good on our touring, and we mainly tour outside the United States. It seems like in the United States, they're waiting on a song, they're waiting on a hit, and the rest of the world doesn't necessarily operate that way. So I'm waiting until we can really give them something they can sink their teeth into and then they can be reminded about how ill Limp Bizkit is live".
Hmmm, making a awful lot of excuses for an album that sucked.
Fred, just go back to the gas station you were working at and shut up.

I've been a fan since Three Dollar Bill Y'all, and I'm not too surprised to hear this. Didn't expect the new album to sell much, most people have long forgotten bout Durst and the Bizkit. It was a good album for the fans of the band, but I doubt newcomers to the band would give it a chance. Limp Bizkit had their time in the sun, may have to stick to the live shows overseas.

"We just want to go play a concert and crush it"
On the eve of an Australian tour, that seems like a really poor choice of words.

This band is a horrible, horrible reminder of how awful music became (and, of course, still is to this day) in the late 90s. Die Limp Bizkit. Accept the fact that your 15 minutes have long since expired and just go die in a hole somewhere quietly. The fact that there are people who claim to be "fans" of this band speaks volumes to the fact that a good chunk of society is mentally defective.

Album wasn't that bad. Better than the last 2.

In other news, Limp Bizkit apparently still had a record deal until now.

Maybe Durst now has time to direct more terrible family comedies starring Ice Cube. I'm sure that the Are We There Yet? franchise could use a third film. Of course, he's still a trillion times more wealthy and successful than the screechers above me in the comments section, so I guess he'll still have that going for him along side his C-Level Hollywood career.

Freddy Got Fingered by Interscope. (Newsflash Durst, you can go away now.)

Without The Undertaker on his motorbike, Limp Bizkit just aren't cool....

He's right about thing though: the way music is here in the U.S. nowadays. Unless you're popping out singles, no one gives a shit.

While I'm not a big fan, he has a great point about American music audience and industry. To have pop success here its about a particular sound, look, etc. It can get very cookie-cutter and generic. Though I think he's making excuses as well I wish them luck on the independent scene. Music overall is better on indy labels anyway.

Music was terrible before the late 90's, ask your parents.

Good, hopefully they get dropped from life next.

Well, this seems fair since their sorry asses should've never been signed to a label in the first place.

haha now breake up and never come back

So, in other words, the album and band suck. Even in today's robotic, cookie-cutter music scene, Limp Bizkit stands no chance. But hey, Durst banged Britney Spears!

I know it's now cool to bash certain bands & love all that hipster sh*t, but Limp Bizkit is great in concert, and the Gold Cobra album is pretty good.
