Over her new song...
Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis has threatened to sue Madonna, NBC and the NFL run with a song as the same name as his company for the Super Bowl halftime show. TMZ reports that Francis sent the three parties a cease and desist letter, threatening to see them for trying to get a "free ride on the valuable consumer goodwill and brand recognition" of Girls Gone Wild, which is the name of a song off Madonna's new album MDNA.
Francis' lawyer says "Your misappropriation of my clients' trademark will not be tolerated," but will cut a deal with her if she negotiates an immediate licensing agreement for the use of Joe's trademark, accounts for the number of times Madonna has already used the trademark and doesn't perform it this weekend at the Super Bowl.
