Beyonce and Jay-Z Apply to Trademark Their Daughter’s Name
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.08.2012

According to The Washington Post, Beyonce and Jay-Z are applying to trademark their daughter's name, Blue Ivy. The couple applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on January 26, and interestingly enough, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office had already turned down two applications to use the name 'Blue Ivy'.

On January 11th, four days after Blue Ivy's birth, fashion designer Joseph Mbeh applied to trademark 'Blue Ivy Carter NYC' so that he could sell a range of children's dresses, skirts and underwear. He also applied for a second time on January 20th for 'Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV' to use on a line of fragrances. He has since apologized for attempting to trademark the name.

Really? Trademarking a name? Really? Why not use some of that money to do something useful, like, say, donate to public schools? Or disease research? Only f*cking "african americans" would think to copyright a NAME

This Joseph Mbeh is an a-hole for trying to capitalize on the kid, but you can't friggin' trademark a name no matter how stupid it is. "Blue Ivy"... ugh. The really sad thing is that's not nearly the worst name celebrities have given their children.
