NBC Pretending that Katherine McPhee Wasn't on American Idol

In promoting Smash...

NBC apparently doesn't want to give The Voice's competition any free publicity. For the network's new show Smash, they are treating star Katherine McPhee as if she was never on American Idol. The Hollywood Reporter notes that in the promotion for the musical drama as well as her official bio, NBC is not mentioning anything before her 2007 debut album that was released after her Idol stint.

The show is even listing her as "Introducing Katherine McPhee" as if she has never been on television before. NBC also notably did not mention Steven Tyler as an Idol judge when he was shown during the Super Bowl. One can assume that NBC/Universal is taking hints from Vince McMahon, perhaps?

Technically she came in second anyway, and quickly forged her way away from that so. Fair.
