Jay-Z and Kanye West Praised for Epilepsy Warning on New Music Video
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 02.10.2012

Kanye West and Jay-Z are getting some good press for throwing an advance warning on their "N**gas in Paris" video warning about possible seizures. TMZ reports that the video, which features strobe lights and quick edits, comes with a warning at the top that reads "This video has been identified by Epilepsy Action to potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised."

According to the Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy, "50,000 individuals lose their lives each year due to seizures and related causes. We applaud artists like Kanye West and Jay Z who recognize the potential dangers in their videos, movies and performances and are conscientious enough to warn patients and their families about the risks."

CURE was joined by a rep for the Epilepsy Therapy Project who said that the project "appreciates the sensitivities that Kanye and Jay Z showed in appropriately warning individuals with photosensitive epilepsy that their video may cause seizures. Given the 4 million people who suffer from epilepsy in the US alone, we need to work together with the music industry on how best to destigmatize the condition and stop seizures and epilepsy once and for all so everyone can enjoy the music."

Kanye's video for "All of the Lights" had a similar warning, though it wasn't added until concerns were raised after the initial release.

It'd be more admirable if they included a warning about the brain cells you lose watching it.

Shouldn't they have included a warning that there are two naggers in the video too?
