The Monkees’ Album Sales Grow By Over 1000 Percent After Davy Jones’ Death

And the overall track sales have grown by almost 4,000%...
According to Billboard, The Monkees' albums sold 29,000 in the week ending March 4, which is a gain of 1,265%, following the death of Davy Jones on February 29. This is the first time that the pop group has been in the Billboard 200 albums chart since 2003.
The Best of The Monkees has re-entered at No. 20 with 17,000 sales (up 7,808% according to Nielsen SoundScan) and Flashback with The Monkees debuted at No. 125 with 5,000 sales.
In terms of digital track sales, the band's biggest seller is "Daydream Believer," which debuted at No. 49 on Digital Songs and shifted 39,000 (up 5,346%).
Throughout all of 2011, The Monkees sold 174,000 tracks and 96,000 albums.
