Courtney Love Displays Obscenity-Covered Wedding Dress
Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.04.2012

Flavorwire reports that Courtney Love held an exhibition of her drawings, called And She's Not Even Pretty at New York's Fred Torres Collaborations.

The drawings were made over the past year in colored pencil, graphite, watercolor and pastel. Each image has a woman and some are billed as pictures of famous blondes (Amy Phelan, Gwyneth Paltrow). Some of the titles include "La Mort de Courtney" and "And Then She Jumped Into The Hudson". There was a lipstick-stained white Galliano wedding dress with the words "NOT MY CUNT ON MY DIME MOTHER" embroider on it. The dress was meant for Love's wedding to former boyfriend Edward Norton. That item is not for sale.

Most of the images come with captions, including lyrics from Nirvana, Hole and Smashing Pumpkins. A picture of a blonde crying blood reads: "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here" and the words "But don't you know who I am" is at the bottom. Another photo features a naked woman with a giant purse, with red-and-orange letters reading: "SHE HAD 42 BIRKIN BAGS".

Meanwhile, Love told The Huffington Post: "It's really a Kurt-free zone. A lot of this collection is about one romance."

Love's mother wanted her to be an artist growing up and even bought easels and African instruments. Love added: "It's embracing this thing in my life that haunted me."

She also drew a photo of a dead Sarah Bernhardt, inspired by the Robert Frost poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay." She said it's "really about being blonde".

The exhibit has over 45 drawings which also contain poetry excerpts. Love is still adding to the collection.

She said: "I don't know when I'll do this again. [But] if this works with me, there are gonna be a whole lot of other ones."
