Do you agree?
In an interview with The Hits Radio (via NME), Cheryl Cole says it's time for people to forgive Chris Brown for assaulting Rihanna.
Brown attacked Rihanna in 2009 on the same night as the Grammy Awards and was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service. A US court rejected his plea to end his probation earlier this year.
Cole also mentioned Rihanna herself forgiving Brown.
Cole said: "I think it's really kind of Rihanna actually. She's come out and publicly forgiven him really. I think it's about time we all did if I'm completely honest, if you want my opinion. I work with people all the time with my charity that are transformed characters. They've done things when they were young that they regret, they've been to prison and they're now upstanding members of the public and help our community and are amazing people."
When asked why she thinks people are hostile towards Brown, she added: "I think because he's in the limelight. He hasn't had the chance to be forgiven or to forgive himself because we haven't let him. Now that she's come out and embraced him again, I think it's time we all moved on. That guy is talented as hell."
She will release her next album, A Million Lights on June 18. It will be her third album and the follow-up to 2010's Messy Little Raindrops. It will also be the first album she releases under the name Cheryl. She said last month that she was dropped the "Cole" part of the name for her recording career to distance herself from her previous marriage to soccer player Ashley Cole, who she divorced in 2010 after claims he cheated on her.
