Lady Gaga Hints That Her Indonesia Show Could Go Ahead
Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.23.2012

NME reports that Lady Gaga posted on her Twitter, providing a hint that her show in Jarkata, Indonesia could go ahead.

She wrote: "The Jakarta situation is 2-fold: Indonesian authorities demand I censor the show & religious extremist separately, are threatening violence. If the show does go on as scheduled, I will perform the BTWBall alone."

It was reported on Reuters that she was refused a permit earlier this month to perform there after Islamic groups complained about her "vulgar" style. The concert is scheduled to happen on June 3.

Indonesia is a secular state with the world's largest population of Muslims and minorities of Christians, Buddhists and Hindus.

Salim Alatas, the Jarkata head of the Islamic Defender Front (FPI) said: "She's a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil's child and that she will spread satanic teaching. This is dangerous."

30,000 concert tickets from a total of 40,000 tickets have been sold. Tickets ranged from 465,000 rupiah ($50.35) to 2.25 million rupiah ($240). ($1 = 9235 rupiah)

Her tour began last month with authorities in Seoul, South Korea setting up an adults only policy which kept anyone from the age of 18 from attending her first tour date. The policy was imposed after a ratings board said she was unsuitable for children. Christian groups said she was "obscene" and could "taint" younger audiences.

Gaga will also tour Europe from her Born This Way Ball tour including Manchester's Evening News Arena on September 11 and Dublin, Ireland's Aviva Stadium four days later. The Darkness will support the act on all dates.
