Florence + The Machine A Favorite To Win 2012 Mercury Prize

Alt-J are the odds on favorite...
NME reports that Alt-J are currently the odds on favorite to win the 2012 Mercury Prize, according to bookmakers Paddy Power. The winners are awarded $31,357. Alt-J's debut album An Awesome Wave is rated 6/1, ahead of the other competitors.
Other favorites include Richard Hawley's Standing AT Sky's Edge, Florence + The Machine's Ceremonials and Sweet Billy Pilgrim's Crown and Treaty, which have 10/1 odds each.
The Maccabees, Emeli Sande, Hot Chip and Django Django are 14/1, while Portico Quartet are at 16/1. Artists at 20/1 odds include Coldplay, Michael Kiwanuka, Bombay Bicycle Club, Jessie Ware and Rumer, while Ed Sheeran, Orbital and Pulled Apart By Horses are at 25/1.
Meanwhile, Marine & The Diamonds and The Ting Tings are the long shots, with odds of 100/1 and 150/1 respectively. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Mystery Jets and Plan B are not even listed in the betting so far.
The nominations will be announced on September 12 and the ceremony will take place on November 1 at the Roundhouse in London. All the nominees will be invited to perform at the event, and each act will headline several special shows before the ceremony.
