Lady Gaga's Meat Dress To Go on Display in Washington, DC
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 09.07.2012

Lady Gaga's meat dress is set to be displayed in Washington, DC. The AP reports that the dress, which Gaga wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards and inspired a flurry of media attention, will be part of an exhibition about pioneering women in rock and roll that is being curated by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The exhibition opens on Friday at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington and includes Madonna's outfit from her infamous Blonde Ambition tour, as well as items from Cher, the B-52s, Donna Summer, Stevie Nicks and Cyndi Lauper. Gaga's childhood piano and 2010 Grammy Awards outfit are also being shown.

The dress was originally worn by Gaga as a protest of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. She was accompanied by soldiers who had been affected by the policy to the award show and when asked about the dress had said that if people don't stand up for their rights, "pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat." PETA came out and slammed Gaga for the dress.
