Morrissey Representative Says The Smiths Will Never Get Back Together

More denial...
Rolling Stone reports that Morrissey's publicist says that The Smiths will never reunite. In fact, he specifically said: "The Smiths are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to reunite – ever."
The band, which Morrissey sang for, broke up 25 years ago and have been rumored to reunite ever since. Recent rumors started after an interview with Australia's Herald Sun, in which Morrissey said Coachella organizers "offered a 100-percent vegetarian event for the following year if I would agree to headline with Johnny Marr as the Smiths."
When asked why the group will never get back together, the representative replied: "You'd have to ask Morrissey that. There's got to be a story there, and maybe one day it will be told."
Guitarist Johnny Marr's manager told NME that a reunion wouldn't happen as well. Marr helped remaster the band's catalog earlier this year without help from Morrissey, drummer Mike Joyce and bassist Andy Rourke. He said: "Nothing really gets off the ground just purely because of money. Certainly, as I see it, so many other things would have to be fixed and we're just too different to get them fixed, it appears."
Morrissey will appear on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon tonight before a US tour that begins Friday in Boston. He doesn't give very many interviews and usually only does them through email. It's unknown if he will mention the breakup of the band in his upcoming autobiography, which will be released next year. His publicist said of the autobiography's title and publisher: "He wants to keep it under wraps, even within his own camp. But we know it exists somewhere in the universe."
He has finished his first album since 2009's Years of Refusal, but currently doesn't have a manager or record company. His publicist added: "He's trying to figure out the right label situation for him right now."
