It's a crummy job, but someone's got to do it...
The Sun reports that Rihanna will earn $8 million dollars for turniing on the Christmas lights at Westfield in Stratford in the UK, just across from the Olympic park. She will also perform a mini concert for 20,000 fans. She last played the area two years ago in Shepherd's Bush.
A source said: "Rihanna's thrilled she has been asked again. She knows it's a big deal and is totally up for it — if it fits in with her schedule. Westfield have had a great year due to the Olympics and want to fork out to celebrate. Even though the final contract is still being thrashed out, they're prepared to pay up to £5million for her. Organisers are expecting around 20,000 people to swamp the park. The Spice Girls were also discussed but Rihanna came out as the artist of choice."
Justin Bieber turned on the lights at both Westfield shopping centers last year. Robbie Williams once did it and postponed his honeymoon with Ayda Field to do so.
Myf Ryan, general manager for marketing at the Westfield Stratford, said: "The Christmas light switch-on at Westfield Stratford City is one of the highlights of the festive calendar. This year we want to thank our loyal shoppers by giving them something they'll never forget."
