For Kids Company...
Coldplay have announced on their official website that the band (along with collaborator Paris) will hold an exhibition of original Mylo Xyloto artwork to raise money for Kids Company. The exhibition will be held from November 29 to December 2 at Proud Galleries in Camden, London.
It will have three original paintings on canvas and the original 7m X 2.5m graffiti wall that was the album's artwork. Another wall painted by children from Kids Company will be displayed with the larger wall. There will also be three high-quality prints of the album artwork (a limited edition of 8 each and signed by the band), three high-quality album artwork prints (each a limited edition of 650 and signed by Paris) and unseen photographs from the world tour taken by Roadie #42. The prints were produced by Album Artists.
All of the work is for sale at the exhibition and online at the Album Artists website. 100% of the proceeds to to Kids Company, which is a children's charity that helps over 17,000 young people in the deprived areas of London.
Chris Martin said: "Kids Company is a phenomenal organisation that is very close to our hearts. While we were making the last album we did quite a lot of painting with our friend Paris. We built a special wall in our studio and sprayed it, wrote on it and threw things at it until it eventually became the artwork for Mylo Xyloto. This exhibition will be the first time that the wall has appeared in public."
Will Champion added: "The big wall and the three paintings are all one-off Coldplay/Paris originals. The money raised will make a big difference to some of London's most vulnerable children."
Camila Batmanghelidjh, Kids Company founder / CEO, said: "The support Coldplay have given us over the years has been amazing. Art plays a major role in Kids Company's work with vulnerable children: kids who have experienced trauma often find it easier to express themselves using art materials rather than words. Our recent award-winning exhibition in partnership with the Royal Academy demonstrated this very powerfully and poignantly."
The exhibition will take place at Proud Galleries, The Horse Hospital, Stables Market, Chalk Farm Road, London NW1 8AH. Admittance is free and it will be open from 11 AM to 5 PM each day. You can find a full list of available works here.
