With 21 shows postponed...
Billboard reports that Green Day has canceled seven more tour dates and postponed 21 others after Billie Joe Armstrong remains in rehab for substance abuse.
All of their remaining 2012 tour dates, including a run of the West Coast in late November and early December were canceled. They previously announced they will not be performingeat the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans, which took place last Saturday. The North American run of Green Day's 21-date 2013 tour has been pushed back. It was originally set to begin in Green Bay, Wisconsin on January 7. The dates were announced in mid-September to support the band's trilogy of albums Uno!, Dos! and Tre!.
Bassist Mike Dirnt said in a statement: "Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern. We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can't wait to see you all again soon."
They have also moved the release of Tre from January 15, 2013 to December 11 of this year. Uno! was released in September and Dos! will be out on November 13.
Drummer Tre Cool added: "We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned. If we couldn't be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing."
Armstrong entered rehab last month after ranting on stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. Uno! was released a few days later and sold 139,000 copies in its first week to get #2 on the Billboard 200. The band also have a new song coming out called "The Forgotten", which is on the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack. That will also be released on November 13. Another new song, "Stray HearT" is available now. It is the first single from Dos!.
