One Direction Getting Their Own 3D Film
Posted by Joseph Lee on 11.13.2012

Billboard reports that One Direction will get a 3D film from Sony Pictures, which would be directed by Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me).

Spurlock said: "This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band. To capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of."

The film will be released through TriStar Pictures on August 30, 2013, which is Labor Day weekend. Spurlock, Ben Winston, Adam Milano and Simon Cowell (who discovered the group on the UK version of The X Factor in 2010) will produce.

Cowell says he's "delighted" to make the film and that Spurlock is the "perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it's like to be One Direction today."

One Direction is made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. Their debut album, Up All Night, sold 1.33 million copies in the US since being released in March. It was the first debut album from a UK act to get #1 on the Billboard 200. Their second album, Take Me Home, was released today. Fans are encouraged to follow @1D3Dmovie on Twitter for updates about the movie.
