Taylor Swift On Top Of Billboard 200 For A Third Week
Posted by Joseph Lee on 11.14.2012

Billboard reports that Taylor Swift's Red is at #1 on the Billboard 200 for a third week in a row with 196,000 sold.

This is the first Swift album to get its first three weeks at #1. Her 2010 album Speak Now had two weeks on the top but dropped out of the #1 spot for five weeks, before coming back to the spot for four more weeks. Swift's other #1 album, 2008's Fearless debuted at #1 then dropped to #4. It also came back for ten non-consecutive weeks at the top. It has now sold a total of 1.75 million copies.

Now 44 takes #2 with 99,000 copies sold, the 43rd straight Now release to debut in the top ten. The first Now debuted out of the top ten but eventually climbed to it. Now 43 debuted at #1 on the August 25 chart with 111,000 sold.

Debuting at #4 is Ne-Yo with R.E.D., selling 66,000, which is more than expected. Industry experts predicted the album would sell around 55,000. This is his fifth straight top ten album after 2006's In My Own Words (#1), 2007's Because of You (#1), 2008's Year of the Gentleman (#2) and 2010's Libra Scale (#9). Libra Scale debuted with 112,000.

Aerosmith's first album of all original material since 2001 comes in at #5 with Music From Another Dimension selling 63,000 copies. Their last new album was Just Push Play, which debuted and peaked at #2 with 240,000 sold on the March 24, 2001 chart. The mostly covers album Honkin' On Bobo debuted and peaked at #5 in 2004.

Christian band Third Day debuts at #10 with Miracle, which sold 29,000. It is fourth top ten album for the band, which debuted at #9 with its last album, 2010's Move (37,000). On the Christian Albums chart, Miracle is the band's 13th top 10 and sixth #1.
