Florence Welch Wants To Take A Break To Write A Musical
Posted by Joseph Lee on 11.17.2012

Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine told The Evening Standard that she wants to put her band on hold for a year in order to write a musical when their tour ends next month. The latest stop for the tour is the O2 on December 5.

She hasn't had much time off since the band began in 2007.

She said: "I've been on tour since I was 21. I need a break and to have the chance to do normal things, like go to the supermarket and hang out with my friends. I've only just moved out of my mum's house, so I'd like to settle into my new place and start getting inspired again. If I started writing songs now, all they'd be about is tour buses and hotel rooms."

She was at the launch of Kate: The Kate Moss Book at 50 St James, where she was joined by her old friend Sophie Hart-Walsh, who will write the music with her. She added: "It would be amazing to get it into the West End. That's obviously the dream goal."

Hart-Walsh is a film costume designer whose nickname is tattooed on Welch's arm. She said: "We always used to write songs about our lives and sing them to each other. We always said we should make them into a musical."

Other guests at the Ciroc vodka sponsored launch included Noel Gallagher, Bobby Gillespie, Bob Geldof, Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney.
