Billboard spoke with Carley Rae Jepsen about the American Music Awards and her impressive year.
Jepsen said, "It kind of gives me that shiver in my tummy because I know everything's going to work and I can just enjoy it."
Regarding her big year which saw her song "Call Me Maybe" become a big hit and had Jepsen signed to a major label she stated: "I feel like it's been kind of a stars aligning with a lot of luck. It's been a lot of hard work, and I feel like a lot of it is owed to the fans, who've really spread the song by kind of remaking it and pushing it. It's been something to see."
Jepsen will receive the "Rising Star" award on November 30 at the Billboard Women in Music event in NYC. She will join Katy Perry who will receive the award for Billboard's Woman of the Year.
Speaking about Perry, Jepsen said, "I immediately took to her when I met her the first time. Before that I'd been a fan of her music for years, so it's gonna be a special day that we get to share together."
