Lenny Kravitz To Play Marvin Gaye In Biopic

The Evening Standard reports that Lenny Kravitz is set to play Marvin Gaye in a biopic about the last years of his life.
The film is being made by Julien Temple, who directed the documentary London: The Modern Babylon, which was shown at the Cultural Olympiad during this summer. He also directed the film Absolute Beginners and films about the Sex Pistols.
The film would follow Gaye's final years of life in London from 1981, in which he was addicted to alcohol and owed tax money. He was saved by music promoter Freddy Cousaert and taken to his home in Ostend, Belgium to recover.
This would be Kravitz' first lead role, but he has acted before. He was most recently in The Hunger Games.
So far, Janis Gaye, Marvin's second and last wife, says she was "very skeptical" about the film.
