[VIDEO] The Rolling Stones To Release First iPhone App
Posted by Joseph Lee on 11.20.2012

The Rolling Stones and TV producer Endemol have released the band's first ever iPhone app, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They have prepared the app in a partnership with live entertainment promoter Dainty Group.

The app is a part of the 50th anniversary celebration. The main app is free but there will also be a paid-for portion. Fans can watch interviews, try to win tour tickets, see phones and videos of the band over the years and more. In the paid-for section, they can unlock content shot specifically fo the app before the Stones' upcoming tour. There will later be a feature that allows fans to vote for a song to be played at a concert. Fans can also connect with each other and the band, preview tracks for free and buy exclusive merchandise and any song from the Rolling Stones catalog on iTunes. It is currently exclusive to Apple's iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Mick Jagger said: "We wanted to do something a bit special and innovative - an app that really connects with the user, lots of exclusive content, integration with social networks and the ability to make a song request for the upcoming shows."

Keith Richards added: "There'll be quite a few surprises in there for the fans; some behind the scenes footage; some old, some new stuff that very few people get to see. It's all part of a rather splendid celebration for us."

Tim Hincks, president of Endemol Group, said: "It's great to be part of a world first for the world's biggest rock'n'roll icons. The Rolling Stones Official App is a rich treasure trove of content and interactivity."

Endemol and Dainty are co-managing the international media and digital rights to the Stones' 50 and Counting. This will be the first tour the band have had in over five years. The final show, a concert at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on December 15, will be live on PPV. The other two stops include London's O2 Arena and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
