Rihanna Gets #1 On Billboard 200, Phillip Phillips And Kid Rock Debut In Top Five
Posted by Joseph Lee on 11.28.2012

Rihanna has scored her first #1 on the Billboard 200 as Unapologetic sold 238,000 copies. This follows six other top ten albums going back to her first album in 2005.

American Idol winner Phillip Phillips' debut album The World From the Side of the Moon begins at #4 with 169,000. 2011 winner Scotty McCreery debuted at #1 in October of that year with his first album, Clear as Day, which also sold more than Phillips with 197,000 in its first week.

Kid Rock takes his seventh top ten album with Rebel Soul coming in at #5, selling 146,000. It is Rock's first major label album to be sold digitally, even though the majority of his catalog is not available for download. Digital sales contributed to 57,000 of this week's sales, as it comes in at #3 on the Digital Albums chart. Rebel Soul is the smallest sales week for a Kid Rock debut since Devil With A Cause started with 4,000 in 1998. His last album, 2010's Born Free, debuted at #5 with 189,000. 2007's Rock N Roll Jesus debuted at #1 with 172,000.

Pink's The Truth About Love benefits from a performance at the American Music Awards, as it climbs 22-7 with 114,000 copies sold. It was also helped by a discount at retailers on Black Friday. Between November 22-24, Target sold it for $7, Best Buy had it for $5.99 and both iTunes and Amazon MP3 sold it for $6.99. Jason Aldean's Night Train was also on sale at Target, and it benefits by climbing 13-8 with 103,000.

Led Zeppelin return to the Billboard 200 with their live album Celebration Day coming in at #9 with 101,000. It was recorded from their 2007 reunion concert in London and is their first new recording in decades. This is the band's 13th top ten album and first since their greatest hits album Mothership debuted and peaked at #7 on December 1, 2007.

Finally, Keyshia Cole's Woman to Woman closes out the top ten with 96,000. It is her fifth straight top ten debut in five albums. Calling All Hearts, her 2010 album, debuted and peaked at #9 with 128,000 over Christmas week.
