Guitar That Jimi Hendrix Burned On Stage Sells At Auction

Metro reports that a guitar that Jimi Hendrix supposedly burned on stage sold at an auction for $380,100.
While he actually burned a guitar, it wasn't his favorite as was rumored. He kneeled next to a black Fender Stratocaster at the Monterey International Pop Festival, but switched to a lesser guitar seconds earlier. The real guitar was given to James Wright, a manager at his record label, and sold by London's Fame Bureau on Tuesday.
Hendrix planned to only smash the guitar at the California show in 1967 but saw The Who's Pete Townshend smash his own guitar the night before. Wright said: "Jimi asked for some lighter fuel. He wanted to outdo Pete. At the time, it was his favorite guitar and he didn't want to ruin it."
