He also talks about his new album...
Billboard spoke with producer and DJ Afrojack (real name Nick van der Wall) outside of the KIIS FM Jingle Ball concert in Los Angeles on Monday, where he revealed that he is going to release a remix of PSY's "Gangnam Style".
He said: "I remixed him two weeks ago and it's getting released next week."
He said that the song is his favorite of the year, adding: "It's genius!"
Afrojack revealed that PSY contacted him and said that he is going to be the only one to remix the song, which he says he thought was "dope". Afrojack has previously remixed songs for Snoop Dogg and Madonna, but adds that he was nervous to take on "Gangnam Style". He said: "It's a really really really big song! But three months ago I remixed Michael Jackson's "Bad" and that worked out so I felt like OK. Might as well have 'Gangnam Style'."
He said that his version, "an EDM version", is "way clubbier". He says the remix will last for "eight minutes".
He also commented on his debut album. He said: "It's going to get released the first week of April. I'm really excited about that. It's a big part of my heart right now."
The album will have several collaborations, including one from Chris Brown. That song is called "As Your Friend" and it will be out in February. He said that he plans to make the album a double album. He added: "One sing-a-long radio club hits crossover crazy stuff but also accessible and one advanced level really hard pumping stuff that you play in the clubs and in the car."
