Big Boi Says He's Done Answering Questions About Outkast
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 12.05.2012

Big Boi recently spoke with Billboard about his upcoming album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, the media furor over rumors that Outkast was never reuniting and more. Check out the highlights:

On media speculation about Outkast breaking up because Andre 3000 wasn't on his new album: "I've been a liaison [for OutKast fans] because Dre wasn't saying [anything]," he says. "So now, [because] y'all want to twist my words up, no more OutKast answers from the kid."

On the influence of the internet on the media: "The world is really run by the Web. There's so much information out there that you can click and keep going down the rabbit hole finding stuff. On the other side, there's social media, where anybody can put anything out, whether it's out of context [or not]."

On finding new inspiration in his international festival tours: "They play all types of different music [overseas]. We're the only ones being programmed to like the same seven, eight songs. I'm just a product of my environment, and it comes out in the music."

On discovering Phantogram, who appear on his new album: "I was on the computer and their song 'Mouth Full of Diamonds' popped up on one of those ads. So I Shazamed it, found out who it was and then put it on my BigBoi.com."

On the music industry today: "There's so much piracy that the music is basically free. Today's music game is about concerts and merchandising. You still have to make dope [music] though. So if they keep buying, then I'm supplying [laughs]."
