My Bloody Valentine Bassist Says New Album Is "Pretty Much Finished"
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.07.2012

In an interview with Drowned In Sound (via NME), My Bloody Valentine bassist Debbie Googe said that the new album is "pretty much finished".

Kevin Shields told NME last month that the follow-up to 1991's Loveless would be out before the end of the year. Google confirmed the album is done, but said she hasn't played an active part in its development. She recently has been playing live with Primal Scream.

Googe said: "It will definitely come out as it's pretty much finished. I mean, it's impossible to talk about time with Kevin, but in terms of percentage-wise, he's got one more track he wants to do then that's it. Everything else is recorded. I really couldn't [tell you what it sounds like] at all. I've heard more of the new Primal Scream record than I have the new My Bloody Valentine one! Most of it is stuff Kevin has done, certainly guitar-wise... There's some things Kevin can't do, like the drums or Bilinda [Butcher]'s vocals, but everything else he can."

The band have also added an extra date to their short UK run next year. The UK shows follow six concerts in Japan and four in Australia, all in February. They will also headline the 60,000 capacity Tokyo Rocks festival in May.

Here are the UK dates:

Glasgow Barrowlands (March 9)
Manchester Apollo (10)
London Hammersmith Apollo (12, 13)
