Taylor Swift's Red Goes Triple Platinum
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.12.2012

FMQB reports that the RIAA has revealed its Gold and Platinum album certifications for November, and Taylor Swift's Red received a 3x Multi-Platinum Award in only a month. The album was released in October, giving Swift the record for the fastest album to Triple Platinum. Her album certifications now pass fifteen million sold through five separate albums.

New holiday albums from Scott McCreery (Christmas with Scotty McCreery) and Blake Shelton (Cheers It's Christmas) both turned Gold last month. Rod Stewart's Merry Christmas, Baby went Platinum in one month.

Song certifications include Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe", which went 6x Multi-Platinum. PSY's "Gangnam Style" went Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum. Four other artists went Platinum for the first time in November: Florida Georgia Line for "Cruise," Imagine Dragons for "It's Time," Skrillex for "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites," and The Lumineers for "Ho Hey."

Meanwhile, Adele earned the RIAA Diamond certification in November by hitting over ten million in sales for 21. She is the first artist in a decade to hit Diamond in less than two years. Her James Bond theme song "Skyfall" also went Gold.
