Thousands in UK List Religion as 'Heavy Metal' in Census

Thousands of people in the UK have listed their religion in the latest census as "heavy metal." The Guardian reports that the data for the country's 2011 census was released this week and 6,242 listed the music genre as their religious affiliation.
That number is over three times more than those who listed themselves as Satanists; only 1,893 people identified as such. The heavy metal trend follows the last census in 2001 when a nationwide campaign pushed people to list their religion as Jedi, which about 330,000 people did. That number was down to 176,632 people in the new census.
