Fresh off his number one single "Locked Out of Heaven"...
Billboard reports that Bruno Mars might have a Billboard 200 albums chart topper with his new album Unorthodox Jukebox.
His new single "Locked Out of Heaven" was number one on the Hot 100 today. The song is the lead single for Unorthodox Jukebox. Industry sources believe the album is on course to sell 140,000 to 150,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, December 16.
Mars' album likely won't be able to claim the number one slot on the Billboard 200 though. Red by Taylor Swift will likely hold on to the spot for its fifth week. Industry sources expect Red to still beat the latest Bruno Mars release. Nielsen SoundScan reports that Red sold 167,000 copies last week, which put it back at number one on the chart.
Mars' new album is one of the handful of new albums this week. Other releases looking for notable debuts on the Billboard 200 for next week are Jesus Piece for Game and the soundtrack for the TV series Nashville. Both releases are expected to place in the top 20. Also expected to make a high bow is the new compilation by the late Jenni Rivera, La Misma Gran Senora. The 13-song album was announced last October and has eight of the top 25 hits on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart.
