Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood Is Not Hiding Out In Brazil Waiting For The End Of The World
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.13.2012

The Daily Mail reports that representatives of Radiohead have denied rumors that guitarist Jonny Greenwood is hiding out in Brazil to "wait for the end of the world".

Several Brazilian media sources have claimed he is in a guest house in the Sao Luiz do Paraitinga, Sao Paulo, preparing for December 21. That's the day that marks the end of the Mayan Calendar and is considered by some to be the end of the world.

The owner of the Catuçaba hotel, Emmanuel Rengade, said: "The reason why he's here is to get away, because hotels like this preserve the privacy of the guests and he does not want publicity."

The city's tourism minister, Eduardo de Oliveira Coelho, told the Folha de Sao Paulo news website that Greenwood arrived earlier this month and other band members would join him in the next few days. This was then confirmed by both the Coelho and Rengade. Coelho said that Greenwood was giving free classes to the young people of the city and would stay longer if the end of the world doesn't happen.

Radiohead's management, Courtyard, said that Greenwood is not even in the country and the rumors are not true.
