12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief Album Already Doing Well in Pre-Sales
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 12.13.2012

Billboard reports the 12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief album is already doing well for digital pre-orders online.

According to industry sources, the pre-orders for iTunes' exclusive digital release of the album now number at 40,000. The set will be available on Tuesday, December 18 from Columbia Records. It could be available on iTunes even sooner. None of the tracks for the album are up for individual sale yet, nor has a tracklist been publicly released yet.

The album is set to drop for $12.99 with 24 songs. The number could change since more than 50 songs were played at the show at Madison Square Garden in New York with acts from the likes of Bruce Springsteen to Paul McCartney and Kanye West to Alicia Keys.

Pre-orders will not count on Billboard's sales charts until they have been delivered to customers. If the album does go live on iTunes before the close of business on Sunday, December 16, the set could impact the new Billboard 200 chart on Wednesday, December 19. The album is expected to sell more than 40,000 copies in its first week though it likely will not hit the number one slot on the Billboard 200 in its first week. Taylor Swift's Red album is still predicted to top the chart for its fifth week of release.
