Guns N' Roses Pay Tribute To Pandit Ravi Shankar
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.14.2012

Times of India reports that Guns N' Roses paid tribute to sitar player Pandit Ravi Shankar at a concert in Delhi. Shankar died on Wednesday after he had a heart-valve replacement surgery at the Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California and never recovered.

Axl Rose said at the beginning of the show: "We dedicate this show to Pandit Ravi Shankar."

The band were on time for their show, even after past incidents of being late. The concert ran for three hours and included songs like 'Sweet Child of Mine', 'November Rain', 'Paradise City', 'One in a Million', 'Welcome to the Jungle' and 'Think About You'. Rose, Dizzy Reed, Tommy Stinson, Chris Pitman, Richard Fortus, Ron Thal, Frank Ferrer and DJ Ashba performed in front of 5000 people.

He said: "Hello Delhi, it is a wonderful evening I am happy to be here."

This was Delhi's first hard rock performance in years after Metallica canceled a show last year. One college student in the area said: "I am a die hard fan of the band and had booked the passes a month back. I am so happy they have come to India. They are amazing."

Before last night's show, the band played in Bangalore and Mumbai.
