His comments were taken out of context...
Paul Epworth recently wrote on his Twitter, denying a Hollywood.com report that Adele recorded the theme song to Skyfall in ten minutes.
He wrote: "Ok ok. Can I clarify this. Adele didn't record her final skyfall vocal in 10 minutes. We cut the first draft of the verse and chorus. It took us a while to hone the track into the end result. Don't you just love it when things are taken out of context."
Epworth was quoted in the article as saying he wrote the theme song but felt it was too dark. Then Adele loved it and booked time in the studio to record it. He is quoted as saying: "Within 10 minutes, she put down most of the vocals. She had the lyrics in her head when she drove over. It was the most absurd thing. She's fast, but it was quite phenomenal."
The song is one of the 75 songs on the shortlist for an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. It was already nominated for a Golden Globe. Epworth has produced songs for Adele's 21. He's also worked with Florence and The Machine, Friendly Fires and Bloc Party.
