Bruno Mars Debuts At #2 On BIllboard 200

Taylor Swift is once again #1 on the Billboard 200 for the fifth non-consecutive week, selling 208,000.

It defeats Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox, which debuts at #2 with 192,000. This is the best sales week ever for Mars, easily topping Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which sold 84,000 in the Christmas of 2010. This was his debut album and peaked at #3. The new single "Locked Out Of Heaven" is currently #1 on the Hot 100 as of last week.

Unorthodox Jukebox's sales week is larger than expected, as industry experts predicted it would sell between 140,000 and 150,000. It increased over the weekend thanks to Christmas getting closer. 70% of the sales were physical albums.

One Direction moves past one million sales this week (1.04 million) thanks to Take Me Home getting an additional 127,000 in sales at #4. It is the group's second album to sell over a million after Up All Night (currently at 1.5 million). This makes them the only act to have two albums sell over a million this year.

The second highest debut goes to Game with Jesus Piece at #6. This is the fifth top ten album for Game. His 2011 album, The R.E.D. Album, debuted at #1 with 98,000.

4. One Direction - Take Me Home (127,000)
5. Rod Stewart - Merry Christmas, Baby (108,000)
6. Game - Jesus Piece (86,000)
7. Phillip Phillips - The World From The Side of the Moon (68,000)
8. Blake Shelton - Cheers, It's Christmas (just under 68,000)
9. Alicia Keys - Girl on Fire (61,000)
10. Lady Antebellum - On This Winter's Night (60,000)

Just outside the top ten sees two debuts: Green Day's Tre (#13, 58,000) and the Nashville TV soundtrack (#14, 56,000).

Album sales this week totaled 9.71 million, up 15% compared to last week (8.45 million) and down 13% compared to last year (11.20 million). Year-to-date album sales stand at 293.47 million, down 5% compared with the same total at this point last year (307.75 million).
