Who picked up the win?
Country singer Tate Stevens was declared the winner of The X Factor. Stevens was named the winner on the show's second season finale Thursday night, where he won a $5 million recording contract. Stevens' mentor was Antonio "L.A." Reid, who announced last week that this season would be his last.
"This is the best day of my life," said Stevens after he was announced the winner. He then closed out the show by singing Chris Young's "Tomorrow."
Second place went to Carly Rose Sonenclar, who was a fan favorite throughout the season. As previously reported, Sonenclar sparked some headlines on Thursday before the show because of her duet with LeAnn Rimes in which Rimes seemed to be acting strangely, leading many on social media to suggest she was drunk. Rimes denied it. Girl group Fifth Harmony finished third.
