UPDATE: TMZ spoke with Simon Cowell outside of Mixology at The Grove in Los Angeles last night and asked him about LeAnn Rimes duet with Carly Rose Sonenclar, which had people thinking Rimes was drunk.
He said he thought the performance was "interesting" but didn't think she was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. He added that she's welcome back to the show any time she wants.
Original: TMZ reports that Carly Rose Sonenclar's family is upset at LeAnn Rimes family for trashing their daughter's performance on The X Factor Tuesday night.
The 13-year-old girl's mother is upset that Rimes criticized Sonenclar after their duet of the song "How Do I Live". After the performance, people on social media claimed that Rimes was drunk.
Rimes claims she was sober and said: "I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song."
She later denied this quote, but TMZ was given the quote from her representative and told they could use it.
Her mother and other relatives are upset that Rimes seemingly set Sonenclar up to fall, especially since they believe she outperformed Rimes.
