US Weekly reports that Britney Spears will likely be fired from The X Factor now that the second season is over. Spears joined the show in May with Demi Lovato.
A source said: "Britney will get the boot. Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn't working."
One reason that she will be fired is the $15 million contract she has, which sources say she didn't earn. The source added: "They paid all that for her to say 'amazing' and offer half-claps."
Another source says Simon Cowell is behind the movement to fire her. The source said: "He wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney."
This would just be the latest in several people leaving the show in two years. The series has lost Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, Cheryl Cole and L.A. Reid, who announced he would leave earlier this month.
Cowell's desire to remove Spears is a surprise considering that in October, he said that she was "a lot better than everybody thought...She's very engaged...She has been, I think, a very, very good judge."
Meanwhile, Spears' relationship with Jason Trawick appears to be on the rocks. Another source added: "They are pulling away from each other. Unless things change, they will split for good."
