YouTube Removes Billions of Faked Views On Music VIdeos

YouTube has stripped away billions of views on music videos that they say are faked. According to The Daily Mail, the video side has removed one billion views amongst various Universal music videos and 850 million views from Sony videos, among others. One of the biggest artists who lost views was Leona Lewis, who lost a total of 24 million hits.
YouTube commented on the removal, saying, "This was not a bug or a security breach. This was an enforcement of our viewcount policy."
The site found the irregularities in an audit of its viewing figures and blames the inflated numbers on hackers boosting hits on certain videos. Sources in the music industry instead blame the fall in hits on the amount of videos now hosted on sites like Vevo.
