Her performance was off...
NME reports that Mariah Carey had a technical failure during a concert in Australia on New Year's Eve. She could hear herself sing through her earpiece monitor, so she began ad-libbing lyrics on stage.
She sang: "These might not be the best lyrics I ever wrote, but whatcha gonna do? I'm in a dress that's a little bit small and little bit big and my shoes my shoes my shoes..."
A few warm-up acts performed before her and then she opened with "Can't Take That Away" from her 1999 album Rainbow.
After the audio problems happened, she was heard complaining to engineers. She said: "There's like 200 of you, can one of you just fix the ear thing? I hope I'm not asking for the moon and the stars ... there's a lot of sound problems going on here. I don't know if it's me or you, or something in the air, but can we fix it?"
News.com.au adds that she was out of breath multiple times during the performance and took several "rest breaks". She was later joined onstage by Nick Cannon and their twin babies Moroccan and Monroe, who were her "special visitors".
