George Clinton Loses Rights To Four Tracks Over $1 Million Debt

George Clinton has lost the rights to four of his songs in order to pay off a $1 million debt to the law firm that used to represent him. TMZ reports that a judge ruled against Clinton regarding a debt to Hendricks and Lewis, which came at the hands of a $1.5 million judgment back in 2010 and has only had $340,000 paid to date. The judge gave the law firm the copyrights for the songs "Hardcore Jollies," "The Electric Spanking of War Babies," "Uncle Jam Wants You" and "One Nation Under A Groove."
The law firm is able to sell or use the music in any way it wishes, with all money going to pay back the original debt. Once that has been settled, the copyrights go back to Clinton. Clinton has filed a motion asking for the decision to be reversed.
