Biz Markie's Next Album Will Include Covers
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.07.2013

Billboard reports that Biz Markie will try to release a new album in 2012 that will include several covers. It will be his first in nine years.

He said that he's finished "half the album", which will mix "singing covers like I used to do with the Beastie Boys and real rap records." The covers weren't named, but include songs by the Steve Miller Band, Elton john and Joe Cocker. Markie also didn't reveal who would guest on the album. His last release was Weekend Warrior in 2003.

He said: "I'm doing it now, doing the ground work, doing it slowly. It's going to be timeless. I've got a couple people (guesting) but they told me not to say their names. It's gonna be lots of fun."

Markie, a regular on the Yo Gabba Gabba live show, says he'll tour on his own to support the album, "but I've got to get it done first, then we'll figure it out." He added that he hopes he can make another appearance on MTV2's Hip Hop Squares after showing up on the first season. He didn't make a second season appearance because of his schedule. Finally, he said that he's owrking on a new children's TV show for network TV and is hoping for a fall debut. He added: "There's a lot of interaction with the kids and me. It's like all the old school games we used to do in the hood. It's gonna be crazy."
